Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight thin silk is slightly translucent, originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a  fabric piece from the 30s to 50s; the background is red with interwoven patterns of geometrics, mon(crests), tortoiseshell hexagonal grids, and floral designs; Designs are ten(10) large origami cranes over pale blue cloud shapes which have plum blossoms within; the undecorated portions show only the interwoven designs described above, but are also in cloud configurations;  (see closeups);  designs on one side but mostly visible on reverse; there is slight sheen in the interwoven patterns described above; slight drape.

NOTE:  Our main picture is slightly less than half the full 2+ yards length of the piece; this pattern repeats.

Note on colors: As all devices have differing coloration, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the color of the fabric.

Condition: Excellent.
