Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a brightly colored fabric piece which is a red background color with ornate designsa mix of bright and lighter tones; Designs are of multiple floral clusters, decorated temari balls, and ribbons; Colors within the designs and figures are from black & dark blue to light whites and yellows, full spectrum of colors used(see closeups); This is a definite print process, so designs on one side; note that selvage on both sides has been trimmed off, thus the fabric width is 12 inches / 30.48 cm.
