Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s fabric from deconstructed nagajuban (under-kimono).
Fabric Description: Lightweight silk; originally intended to make nagajuban, liner is still attached to reverse; This is a 1960's fabric piece with a background of dark orange-vermillion color and white; the fabric is also interwoven with geometric maze grid throughout, including the traditional shrine symbol; Designs are created by hand tie-dyed shibori motifs of a classic bamboo theme(large bamboo stalks with leaves); note the typical small-dots fields, the hallmark of true shibori; same on both sides except the liner is still attached to back; due to the shibori, fabric is quite textured to touch.
