Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Light-medium silk originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a distinctive fabric piece from 30s to 50s; background is a deep red with interwoven geometric maze (traditional with shrine symbols embedded) -- these geometric patterns are only visible upon very close inspection; Very different designs of many different types of flowers in ten bouquets that are held by origami (folded paper) holders with decorative cords;flowers are all softer toned pastel shades in following colors: pink, light blue, gold, yellow, mustard, white and red(see closeups);  designs on one side but mostly visible on reverse; there is slight sheen within the lines of the interwoven grids described above.
