Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a 1960's fabric piece which is a dark navy-blue background color with alternating solid bands 5/8"(15.88 mm) thick with designed bands in black that are about 1 inch (25.4mm) thick; the decorated bands are interwoven mix of geometric and cursive lines (see closeups); the solid areas have sheen; ,
