Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Lightweight cotton originally intended to make a boy's ceremonial kimono; This piece has black and tan background; Classic theme for boy's ceremonial: samurai full battle headgear regalia; The tan bands alternate and have the kabuto (headgear)dragon's head, drum & arrow, and ornate image of fish, open fans & tassels; these two patterns repeat throughout the pver 2 yards of the fabric; designs are on one side only, but slightly visible on reverse; Colors of the designs include: whites, tan, gray,mustard, gold and multiple greens, browns and black; this is print fabric so designs on one side, but visible on reverse; no sheen; slight drape.
