Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Thin lightweight silk originally intended to make a woman's summer kimono; This is a 1960's fabric piece which is loosely woven, translucent, in a checkerboard-likevdesign of 3 inches X 2 inches (7.62 cm X 5.08 cm) rectangles of black and gray-blue; rectangles have fuzzy boundaries (evocative of kasuri look); There is a single stripe of metallic silver thread about 6 inches / 15.24 cm from side that runs full length of piece; One the front side the gray-blue shapes have slight sheen.
