Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a 1960's fabric piece which is a dark navy-blue background color(looks black in low light), Solid with scattered motifs of interwoven bamboo groves with dyed-in birds (swallows?) in flight; motif colors are off-white, white, and a touch of light olive-green on birds;  Fabric is slightly textured, resembling chirimen;Design on one side, faintly visible on the reverse; soft fabric with slight drape; Color of our close-ups are over-exposed intentionally to better reveal subtle motifs so color is less accurate; first picture closer to actual navy-blue as shown on our device.

Note on colors: As all devices have differing coloration, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the color of the fabric.
