Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Fine lightweight silk, slightly translucent in bright light, originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a higher quality silk fabric piece with a background of gradation coloring of lavender to purple; the design is print on one side, visible on reverse; motifs are of bamboo leaves and classic cherry blossoms; Also there are background interwoven subtle figures which are bars with rounded ends running laterally throughout, these figures usually signify water in older Japanese artistry; design colors are iron-red, salmon, light-mustard and off-whites; soft to touch, nice drape typical of 1930s Japanese silks; Suitable for framing.
