Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a 1950's fabric piece with a background of dark-plum(almost purple) with the classic motifs of temari-balls, open fan, flower clusters with thin decorative ribbons swirling in background; the largest figure of flowers cluster is 6.5 inches (16.51cm) in diameter; Wider range of brightly colored and dark colors used in the design patterns, including the following: orange, yellow, colonial blue, moss-green, pink, and white; this is print fabric so designs on one side, but visible on reverse; no-sheen, slight drape.


Recommended for making scarf or accessories.
