Fabric History/Pedigree: 1970s light-medium weight silk fabric piece received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk-poly(synthetic) blend kimono fabric designed for use in making woman's dress silk kimono; the background is a dark dark plum with fine-lines is sort of cascading whirlpool look; Other colors are blue, aqua-blue and some use of salmon colors; Motifs are repeating squares (average 5.25 inches/13.34 cm), alternating single square with overlapping pairs; these squares are designed: wooden traditional Japanese bridges, Royal Imperial Carriages, palace building, water ponds(stylized); Note the reverse view of last picture, negative of front with background in aqua-blue.
Type: Light-medium weight Japanese silk-poly blend, slight drape.
