Fabric History/Pedigree:   Lightweight silk fabric piece received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is a piece from the 1980s; This piece is lightweight silk, slightly translucent, good drape; patterns intended for use of one side but the reverse is only slightly lighter than the front;  Background is off-white with a symmetrical grid of 3/8 inch (9.53 mm) hexagons that fill the fabric; hexagons all have starbursts within; Note also interesting use of Bokashi (gradation) dyeing to create the elliptical lateral shapes and 4-diamond shapes (see first picture for layout); lines of the hex grid are dark colonial to navy-blue, color similar to the accent bokashi figures.

Small figures ideal for komon uses, doll-making projects, or to make a scarf.

Condition: Excellent.
