Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930's chirimen silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Lightweight chirimen silk; no-sheen, textured to touch; designs on one side. the reverse shows some of the front patterns; Background is pale-pink with motifs as follows: chrysanthemums, pine tree branches, maple leaves, cherry blossoms, and a few cherries; design colors are red, dark cherry-red, salmon pink, various hues of gray-green and darker gray-blue to light colonial blue; fabric has no sheen, slight drape; recommended for making scarf or accessories.
