Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950s summer silk fabric piece received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Originally used in woman's kimono; lightweight, slightly translucent Fabric is completely interwoven with classic motifs, including: pines, bamboo, ornate fabrics unrolled, shibori-dots motif (not actual shibori) other traditional designs; background is purple with six single or pairs of soft-white chrysanthemums irregularly placed along the length of the fabric; single mums are about 2.5 inches/6.4 cm diameter; Flowers also have off-white, pale gray with some hues of pale pink; flower centers are in mustard-yellow and vermillion and yellow; Patterns on one side, but some is visible on reverse.
