Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950s summer silk fabric piece received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Originally used in woman's summer kimono; very lightweight, highly translucent (weave is of a tiny mesh type); Fabric is slightly textured due to the nature of the weave; Background is dark navy-blue color, almost black; designs are interwoven and are a sort of over-lapping lengthwise curving lines bands (see closeups); same on both sides; note that we used white background for some of the pictures, to reveal the thinner parts.
