Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950s silk fabric piece received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Originally used in woman's everyday kimono; lightweight Fabric is slightly translucent, only slightly textured fabric; alternating gray and cream-colored stripes run lengthwise with what look like strands of beads irregularly spaced withing both colors stripes; Other colors used:rust-red, black, light mustard; very different design, less of traditional Japanese sense to the design; motifs on one side, but can be seen on reverse; no sheen to this fabric and minimal drape.
