Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950s silk fabric piece received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Originally used in woman's everyday kimono; Lightweight Fabric is slightly translucent with dark blue background and interwoven motifs of large leaves; This is made to look like classic Meisen silk but is NOT; motifs same on both sides; a few single red pinstripes part way across over leaves; colors of designs: off-whites and grays; no sheen and slightly rough surface for silk.
