Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950's silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Lightweight silk is a dark purple background with figures in staggered but symmetrical grid throughout; The designs are rendered in very fine lines tightly clustered lines, white and burgundy perpendicularly crossed; some of the smaller figures have mustard and white lines; The larger figures are about 2 inches (5.08cm) at longest; This pattern is on one side only, but faint shadow of patterns and colors visible on reverse;fabric is smooth, slight sheen, and has some drape; nice to make scarf or accessory.
