Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-1950s piece derived from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Lightweight fine silk kimono fabric, slightly translucent, originally used to make woman's kimono; very dark purple (looks black in low light) fabric has distinctive designs of flowers and leaves as well as wave figure lines (short) irregularly spaced running lengthwise; fabric is fine and delicate, might be good for making scarf.
Condition: Excellent.
