Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s piece derived from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Lightweight translucent summer silk kimono fabric, used to make woman's kimono; fabric patterns on both sides; fabric is solid plain black background with evenly spaced bands (with pinstripes within them) running lengthwise; Design colors are light-blue, white, red, deep aqua-blue and subdued silvers; smooth to touch but no sheen.
