Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950s piece derived from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Lightweight slightly translucent silk kimono fabric, used to make woman's kimono; fabric patterns are of groups of differing colored pinstripes which run the length of the fabric; background fabric is black with the majority of pinstripes in dark brown and burgundy, with staccato pin stripes evenly spaced (about 1 inch / 2.54cm) apart; Same on both sides, no sheen.
