Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950s piece derived from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Light-medium weight silk kimono fabric, used to make woman's kimono; fabric patterns are of variegated colors in pinstripes which run the length of the fabric; colors are a mix of blacks, burgundy, mustard and cream colors; note that the stripes are not continuous but run in different lengths as the lines move along the fabric (see closeups).
