Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s piece derived from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Highly Distinctive ultra-lightweight silk kimono fabric, almost sheer and is very translucent; the background is black with interwoven bands in parallel lengthwise; Bands also have very subtle striations within them in very muted gold; Metallic designs (3 per piece) are about 7 inches (17.78 cm) at largest dimension, including flowers and fence; these figures are mostly metallic gold but also use green, burgundy and silvers; most unusual piece.
