Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Medium weight silk; This is an unusual and distinctive1970's piece in gradation coloration (Bokashi brush-dyed) background, as well as metallic golden threads used where gold motifs are embroidered; Evocative of Fall foliage colors; Motif Colors gradually shift between iron-reds, ruby-reds, off-whites and pastel plum, also gray to black in some forest depictions;  Exceptional motif: Forest scenes with a small boat and people crossing a river by a rope-ferry; also, pagodas, and stylized waves lines (See close-ups).
