Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
- Fabric Description: Lightweight silk is a 1960s slightly translucent fabric piece in dark navy-blue (appears black in lower light) background with interwoven motifs on both sides; the fabric is textured to the touch because of the weave; the motifs are a symmetrical grid composed of tiny thin off-white plus-sign/cross shapes in staggered parallel rows; each cross figure is 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) in size; see close-ups.
