- Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
- Fabric Description: Japanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a pongee type silk-making process using raw silk threads; this tsumugi is a light, translucent fabric but less textured to the touch than others of this period -- smooth but not like a damask; no-sheen; Designs are large stylized leaves (maple?) on a background of checkered mesh pattern whose black elements are about 1/2 inch / 12.7 mm square; The mesh lines are in a sort of light mustard and the flowers use mustard, iron0--red, rust-color, dark aqua-blue, all muted tones.
