Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
- Fabric Description: Lightweight silk is a 1960s slightly translucent fabric piece in a black and silver-gray background with motifs on one side; However, the fabric is interwoven throughout with large open fans; on the reverse side these patterns are more easily seen, but exist on the front as well; front motifs are silver-gray mock-shibori (dots) fields bordered by black, large-scale thatch work pattern bands with dark red dots.
