Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
- Fabric Description: Lightweight silk is slightly translucent, a 1960s black kimono fabric piece in with various light burgundy-colored figures ( .5 inch / 12.7 mm square) with motifs arranged in parallel rows which are slightly staggered row-to-row; There are a few randomly placed larger .75 inch / 19.05 mm squares which are silver-white; Fabric is also interwoven with large diamond and geometric grid lines, visible more so on the reverse (see last picture for back view), which is solid black; fabric has a slightly textured feel, closer to that of raw silk, unlike damask.
