Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk is a 1950s fabric piece in a plum-colored background with tiny dots (mock-shibori effect) which are white; there are 8 figures(our main picture shows half-view); the  larger whiter figures are 7 inches / 17.78 cm at longest, with white and other light-colored pastels of different blossoms; of the 8 figures, note the smaller, darker figures which are dark burgundy-brown (all are smaller than the white figures); the dark shapes have typical Japanese country scene motifs; designs are printed on one side, but can be seen on reverse; smooth to touch, nice drape; very distinctive pattern.

Condition: Excellent.
