Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE

Fabric Description: Lightweight Japanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a pongee type silk-making process using raw silk threads; the background is black with bands of brown-black pinstripes running in perpendicular arrays throughout; Large figures are several different complex geometric shapes which run in parallel columns lengthwise; design colors include: charcoal-black, aqua-blue, reds, soft whites, and gray-silver;  this tsumugi is a light and slightly transparent fabric which is smooth to the touch but less than damask.
