Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s to 1950's kimono silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Lightweight slightly translucent silk; no sheen; designs on both sides; the background is black with ,motifs in dark browns: throughout fabric there is a grid made of half-inch / 12.7 mm squares, each of which has a letter "X" with a dot in its center. (see close-ups); fabric is textured to the touch with feel close to that of raw untreated silk.
