Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930's special kinsha silk pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric originally used to make a woman's kimono; delicate, with some drape.
Fabric Type: Fine, lightweight silk called kinsha, slightly textured like chirimen, interwoven with geometric diamond shape grid designs throughout; Motifs are on one side (but visible on reverse), with kokeshi dolls (largest 3 inches / 7.62 cm) and small blossoms scattered throughout; slight drape and little sheen; Kokeshi dolls have golden color metallic accent lines on edges.
Colors: Background is light-burgundy-red (Japanese red-bean color); other colors are-- orange, tan, black, light pink.
Condition: Excellent. for its age.
Recommended for making scarf, clothing accessories.
