Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Lightweight  silk This is a 1950's piece of kimono silk, print on one side;fabric has slight texture; Colors are a dark-salmon background with symmetrical designs in a grid; colors of design figures are lighter tones, pastels of light blue, gray tan and light lavender accents; Elements of the grid are about 2 inches / 5.1cm square; In our opinion these motifs do not even seem completely traditional Japanese;  See closeups.
(Cultural note about this fabric's design: Just after the end of World War II some of the Japanese artists and textile designers were experimenting with creative designs, as they felt freed of the oppression experienced under Imperial Japan up to 1945; thus we sometimes see something like this fabric where the designer is mimicking Western themes;  just our take on this).
