Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Medium-weight 1950's Japanese kimono silk which is a vermilion and light silver background with interwoven fine metallic gold color threads throughout; fabric is also interwoven with floral figures (plum blossoms, iris, bamboo leaves, maple leaves & chrysanthemums); The bands of vermilion and silver run diagonally and are 7 inches / 17.8 cm in width; Patterns same on both sides; fabric has rough texture to the touch due to the metallic interwoven threads.
