Item Details and Description
Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's, pieces derived from deadstock roll of kimono mock-silk (synthetic); (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used).
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage mock-silk kimono fabric originally intended to make women's kimono or nagajuban; background is pale white with bamboo leaves in vermilion (orange-red, shuiro--good luck color); interwoven throughout are small geometric grid shapes (scarcely visible except on very close inspection in bright light, but this gives the fabric a texture similar to chirimen); same on both sides.
