Fabric Description: Japanese vintage traditional asa (hemp)fabric; weave and look is similar to meisen and designs same on both sides; Asa was used traditionally for various practical uses such as coverlets or screening, as well as garments; This one is softer than those and the designs indicate this was from a summer kimono. The fabric is slightly translucent.
Colors: Background is dark navy-blue (looks black in low light).
Motifs: traditional use of small hashtag & tiny plus sign shapes symmetrically arranged in a grid; the individual hash-tag-like shapes are 3/8 of an inch / 9.53mm at longest dimension.
