Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950's meisen silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Light Weight Meisen silk; slight sheen; same on both sides; Designs are circles and geometric; background is made of interwoven checkerboard configuration of 1/2 inch / 12.7mm squares which are red and burgundy-red and some accents in black & dull silver; Motifs include Pairs of circles, about 7 inches / 17.8 cm at widest dimension; circles have pin-stripes, tortoise shell patterns and other figures (plus signs in lines within circle.). Very unusual for this period (Fifties).
