Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's, pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric used to make woman's kimono; This is a mock-kasuri, meant to look like older kasuri fabric designs (but it is a print).
Fabric Type: Lightweight silk, slightly translucent under bright light , print on one side; solid indigo-black on reverse; mimic of traditional kasuri (ikat) designs; Designs are a mix of traditional flowers, curved stream lines and oval aspect to designs running wave-like lengthwise (see close-ups).
Colors: backgrounds -- black with hint of indigo; motifs -- many varied tones of blue and rust colors.
