Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950's, pieces derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used)
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric used to make everyday women's kimono; distinctive yet traditional layout; Light-weight silk, print on one side; slightly textured to touch, higher quality old silk; no sheen; slight drape; Designs of chrysanthemums and Japanese maple leaves on line-figure background shapes (chrysanthemums are around 3 inches / 7.6 cm, maple leaves slightly smaller; some tiny cherry blossoms in some of the fields; Uses traditional motifs but is distinctively different from most of the traditional silks of this period which we see.
Colors: Light-Burgundy Red background, motifs in various shades of moss to olive green, blue to colonial dark blues with soft whites and pinks. See close-ups.
