Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's, pieces derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used)
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric used to make everyday women's kimono. This is a print design in the traditional Okinawan (Ryukyu Islands, Japan) style motifs (not bingata katazome dye process); Features stylized (Bingata look)waves, bamboo leaves, chrysanthemums, streams, tradtional bamboo rural fence, streams, iris flowers.
Fabric Type: Lightweight silk, designs on both sides; slight drape, no sheen.
Colors: Background is light creamy-white with patterns in navy blue, burdundy tones, light blue, browns and a few touches of olive green shades.
Suitable for framing.
