Item Details and Description
Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's pieces derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used);
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric designed for use in making high-end formal woman's silk kimono of the honburisode type (also called hon-furisode, worn on occasion of Coming of Age celebration for young women);
Fabric has two different but similar motifs on this long piece:
First part has fan with ceremonial cord as well as flowers and other conventional traditional designs such as stylized waves, forests etc.; The Second group also contains a large bouquet of multiple type flowers, as well as bamboo thickets and an old-style Japanese country house and environs (a popular motif in Japanese art);
Light pastels of various colors are in the background while deeper tones of dark emerald greens and colonial blues predominate; many other colors in range of pink to dark fuschia are found on flowers; Please see close-ups.
Type: light-medium-weight Japanese silk, slight drape.
Condition: Excellent. (Our pictures don't do this justice).
