Fabric Description: Deadstock (never used), Japanese vintage kasuri (ikat) cotton fabric of the 'e-gasuri' type (lit. picture-kasuri) because it includes images of objects, in this case open fans; whole fabric is with repeated geometric starburst sort of shapes, all linked into a symmetrical grid layout; also, thin white and dark-blue stripes are evenly spaced across, running vertically (lengthwise).
Fabric Type: Kasuri (ikat), Light-Medium Weight.
Colors: The background is black with all designs composed of lines which are a mix of white and pixelated dark blue; fans are light yellow and dark red (see close-ups).
This is an unused Japanese country vintage fabric called kasuri (also called ikat in Southeast Asia; ) ; Kasuri is a labor-intensive process where patterns are made by pre-dyed paste resistance and varying techniques used to create the sorts of patterns seen here.
