Item Details and Description
Fabric History/Pedigree: We estimate this to be at least from the 1950s, possibly older; this is a special very thin/light type old style silk called kinsha; pieces are derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used)
Fabric Description: Rare Japanese vintage silk kimono which is slightly crepe (chirimen) but fabric is lighter weight and process to make the fabric slightly differs from chirimen (less twist); Dark pink (hint of fuschia) color fabric used to make more decorative garments; Motifs are on one side and are cherry blossoms on branches, with blooms mostly white with various other accent pastel colors (yellow-mustard, colonial blue-gray); note there are also shiny golden specks scattered throughout whole fabric.
We don't see many of these very often, much less as deadstock in partial roll. If purchasing multiple yards fabric will be sent uncut.
Measurements: width =14 inches/ 35.56cm; Length= 1 Yard (.91m).
