Fabric Description: Deadstock (never used), Japanese vintage kasuri (ikat) cotton fabric, with repeated multiple hashtag-like patterns arranged in rows; resulting in checkerboard configuration;
Fabric Type: Kasuri (ikat), Light-Medium Weight.
Colors: background is dark navy-indigo blue with burgundy-red, light mustard and light aqua-blue accent squares within hashtags (see close-ups).
This is an unused Japanese country vintage fabric called kasuri (also called ikat in Southeast Asia; ) ; Kasuri is a labor-intensive process where patterns are made by pre-dyed paste resistance and varying techniques used to create the sorts of patterns seen here.
