Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's, pieces derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used)
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric used to make a lady's kimono
Fabric Type: Lightweight silk, print on one side, interwoven with speckles throughout, as well as metallic burnished gold appearance(not brocade, just shiney in lines).
Measurements: width =14.75 inches/ 37.47cm; Length= 1 Yard (.91m).
Colors: backgrounds -- orange vermillion (shuiro) and white; some goldish-yellow in some of the whirligigs(pinwheels); slight sheen at places, like damask but thinner.
Motifs: Geometric and whirligig (pinwheel) shapes throughout. lines have a slight luster to them, all done by interweaving as well; note the interwoven specks throughout (like falling cherry blossom petals or snowflakes; interesting changes depending on the angle of view and lighting.
