Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's, deadstock bolt of Japanese wool; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used)
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage wool kimono fabric, printed on one side in mock-kasuri (ikat) designs.
Fabric Type: Light-weight; Japanese wool is smoother and tighter weave than many Western worsted types of wool. (Interesting discussion of the term worsted wool is here.)
Motifs & Colors: Background is dark navy blue with a grid composed of muted white hexagonal and diamond shapes in a grid, various traditional designs of stylized flowers as common in kasuri fabrics (see close-ups).
