Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950's Deadstock (new and unused, just never sold in the past) silk for making woman's everyday kimono, found as full roll; designs shown are continuous and only on one side.

Fabric Type: light-weight silk, background in a light creamy olive-green color.

Motifs: Designs are made of small circles in various sizes, looking very much (to us) like bubbles rising in water; motifs also have tiny dots running across the fabric as well as the streams of the 'bubbles'; Interesting color, as we seldom see many greens, much less a variant of olive-green.

CULTURAL NOTE: In the Fifties, just after the war ended (1945) many of the Japanese textile designers and fashion experts experimented and there was a burst of creativity after the oppressive conditions of pre-1945 Imperial Japan. This fabric seems to be another example of this, except no common traditional Japanese symbols etc. appear. (IMHO).

Condition: Excellent.
NOTE: Multiple yards purchased will be shipped uncut.
