Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: found in roll; 1960's  or earlier pieces derived from deadstock roll of highest quality delicate kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new, but has been in storage, never been used);

Fabric Description: High quality rare Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric originally designed for use in making woman's silk kimono; This silk is of a type we rarely see, having an almost paper-like flat feel to it when held in palm of your hand; It has the beige color seen in raw silk threads before being dyed and processed; it does not have much typical drape as it has a  slight stiffness but has sheen; seems good for multi-media artists work; exquisite designs of full  peacock with interwoven pixelated chrysanthemums in background;and cherry blossoms in different colors aside the peacock.(See close-ups).We are not sure of the techniques used to create this truly special  fabric.

Colors: Back ground is a creamy tan/beige and light lime blue-greens (gradation style, ref: bokashi); most colors are pastel types and subtle shadings.

Condition: Excellent.

Note: If buying multiples of this, it will be sent in uncut length.
