Fabric Description: Deadstock(never used), Japanese vintage kasuri (ikat) cotton fabric; This type is technically called 'egasuri' (picture-kasuri) as it has floral or leaf patterns along with the usual kasuri geometric or rounded shapes.
Fabric Type: Kasuri(ikat), Light-Medium Weight
Colors: background is dark navy-indigo blue with motifs in pale aqua-blue, light blue, mustard and vermillion accents (see close-ups)
Motifs: This is a common ikat pattern with not so common pictures of flower or plant patterns arranged symmetrically throughout.
This is an unused Japanese country vintage fabric called kasuri (also called ikat in Southeast Asia; ) ; Kasuri is a labor-intensive process where patterns are made by pre-dyed paste resistance and varying techniques used to create the sorts of patterns seen here.
