Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree:   Found this in a batch of estate sale kimonos and fabrics, all from pre-WWII. Fabric obtained in partial bolt but came with maker's mark  indicating it is from before World War II, 1930s to early 1940s; Bears makers gold mark: Isezaki Chiyoda Omeshi at top of bolt (Note: we're selling by yard, which will not contain the referenced marking). This company was a maker of meisen silks but this particular fabric is not meisen;

Fabric Description:  High quality medium-weight silk with minimal drape, no sheen  probably for upper class homongi (daily wear) woman's kimono; patterns are interwoven brocade style and are the same on both sides; threads are loose/frayed at the sides aswas the practice at that time for certain types of Japanese fabrics (see close-ups); pin stripes run horizontally at varying intervals (see close-ups) throughout.

Measurements:  14.5" (36.8cm) wide x 1 yard (.81m).

Colors:Main color is gray with black and shades of gray and silver in the designs and pin stripes, some fine metallic threads are used, with thicker stripes being dark burgundy to light gold and then white in color;

Condition: Outstanding for its age, colors still strong, clean,no stains or tears;.
